Grand Knight

Thanksgiving...no, I don’t mean the day, I mean the feeling we should have for being blessed in so many ways. These tough economic times are having a severe impact on so many of our friends and neighbors. We should give thanks for everything we have while recognizing the need for our help, service, and prayers for the less fortunate is greater than ever. The fact that we are beginning the “Thanksgiving Season” of the year makes it even easier for us to focus on giving. The council, the parish and our community will be rolling out formal activities and opportunities for our participation. You don’t need to look for avenues of giving...they will be paved right there in front of your eyes.
Of course Knights don’t need a “season of giving”, after all CHARITY is the basic principle of our order and anyone who knows the Knights know that we willingly give our time, talent, and treasure to help those in need. I think it is easy for us for a couple of reasons...
1. it is part of our culture.
2. we have the fun and satisfaction that is reserved only for those who genuinely believe in what they are doing, and truly enjoy who they are doing it with.
One of the high points for our council is coming up in November. Please accept my invitation to you and your family to attend the Healing Mass and the Elderly Thanksgiving Dinner, November 22nd. As you pitch in to help you will see Brother Knights and their families, the Squires, Squire Roses, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and the Cub Scouts. Everyone will be coming together for a day of celebration and giving, as we host our elderly neighbors and those from the area nursing homes for a Thanksgiving dinner with all the trimmings.
This is a great event for everyone who is looking to get more active in the council. Come by and enjoy the experience. I guarantee you will leave with a renewed understanding about why you decided to have your family join the Knight’s family.
Vivat Jesus,
Bo

Deputy Grand Knight

Brothers,
As we enter the last part of the year, we have a very busy calendar in front of us. We have the ground breaking ceremony of our new church on November 1st at 10:00am. Our Council has been a huge support of the Parish and the development of the new church. Please consider coming out for this important moment in our Parish's history.
On November 15th, we will have our Family Spaghetti Dinner. The host is none other than Jim Conroy. After dinner, we will host a movie, "Lady and the Tramp," in the basement for all children. The Grand Knight will be serving popcorn and candy and the Deputy will be supervising the kids so the parents may stay upstairs and enjoy a few after dinner drinks and socializing. Please call Jim to R.SV.P.
On November 22nd, George Brent will be hosting our Annual Healing Mass and Elderly Thanksgiving meal. This event is truly an example of the three principles of our Order, Charity, Unity, and Fraternity. We invite residents of the local nursing home and assisted living facilities to be our guests for a traditional Thanksgiving Day feast. We will need volunteers to drive some of the residents to our Hall and return them once the dinner is over. Please consider coming out this day and participating. I can assure you at the end of the day you will understand what it means to be a "Knight of Columbus."With all of these wonderful events coming this month, I encourage each Brother to follow the lead of our Grand Knight Tom "Bo" Bowmaster and invite a neighbor, friend, to join us. For one of these events, I can assure once they see the principles of our Order in action, they will not only ask to be a "Knight" but they will thank you for the opportunity.
In Charity, Unity, Fraternity
Vivat Jesus,
John F. Rickard, Jr.

The October Family of the Month is one of those families that we all like to be around. You always get a good dose of humor and sincerity. Whether it is an activity at All Saints, or at George Brent, you can expect to see this family involved. As Family Director, Jim makes sure our family events are fun, unique, and definitely include great food and entertainment. Anna Marie is always there at Jim’s side, making sure everything is just right. Anna Marie is a very active member of the Ladies Auxiliary and volunteers for the Bingo Kitchen. They attend most of the council events and volunteer for the family breakfasts. For their dedication and service, and for being a role model for us all, I congratulate Anna Marie, and Jimmy Conroy, as our October Family of the Month.

This Knight of the Month is a man that has demonstrated dedication over a long period of time. No one seems to remember exactly how many years he has been serving as a Bingo Team Captain, but over that period he has always made sure his team is in place and then works right along side of them to assure the team and the Bingo players get everything they need. He is one of several Sir Knights from Bishop Flaherty Assembly that supports this council, in his regalia, whenever the 4th Degree’s presence is requested. Along with his many contributions to the council he supports All Saints, participating in numerous parish ministries. I am going to “rub shoulders” with Don and hope his enduring energy and enthusiasm is contagious. For everything he means to George Brent, I would like to congratulate Brother Don Geisler, our October Knight of the Month
